Transportation

Dowagiac operates an on-demand subsidized transportation system (DART) in partnership with the Cass County Transportation Authority (CCTA) to provide county-wide service. In 2024, Dowagiac was selected as one of 6 pilot cities in Michigan to receive state funding to set up a ride-sharing app. The app went live in the fall of 2024 and soon, in addition to the 10-passenger buses already in the Dowagiac system, there will also be a new, smaller van, that is more versatile and able to accommodate two people and a wheelchair. With this new addition, the city expects to significantly expand service hours to include early mornings, evenings, and weekends, as well as broaden its service area later this year.
